This is a removable bundle type exchanger for high pressure gas tubeside service. This unit can be disassembled for cleaning, and is preferred for many applications including oxygen, hydrogen, and other low molecular weight gases.
This fixed tubesheet design is, in many cases, the most economical as the tubesheets are welded to the shell, eliminating the need for shell side flanges. The use of a non-removable bundle helps to eliminate the risk of shell side leakage.
The "U" type has a 2-pass tubeside which is made possible by the tubes being bent in a "U" shape. This is an economical option when a removable bundle is desired.
BES Types are typically reserved for refinery service where TEMA R and API 660 are invoked. This design is excellent for flammable service.

"W" or "OR" type units are recommended for oil or utility cooler service. The removable bundle makes this style easy to clean.
